The AMX-10 RC is based on the same armoured chassis as the AMX-10P IFV, sharing many mechanical components, but with 6×6 wheeled drive. Compared to Frances NATO allies reconnaissance vehicles, the AMX-10 RC is rather heavily armed with a 105mm gun similar to the one fitted to the AMX-30 main battle tank. In combat, the AMX-10 RCs form fire groups for supporting the reconnaissance patrols in VBL patrol vehicles. Their 105mm guns can easily destroy any Warsaw Pact reconnaissance vehicles that might be a danger to the VBLs.
