At the end of 2023, the Mini-Z MR-04EVO2 underwent a full model change after 14 years. Building on the MR-03s proven layout, the MR-04EVO2 model introduced a sensor-equipped brushless motor, a redesigned front suspension, and a lower battery positionresulting in a major performance leap. Now, the MR-04EVO2 receives a key update with even further upgrades. Featuring reinforced 2.0 front suspension arms previously introduced in the RWD series, the updated model now includes the widely adopted gyro unit set as standard. Upgraded to Version 2, the gyro offers a refined balance of stability and cornering precision, enhancing both race performance and the driving experience. Another key improvement is the new RC unit that enables motor RPM control for precise tuning which is essential for racers while maintaining fair competition as Mini-Z Cup rules shift from regulating motor KV (RPM per volt) to directly regulating RPM in 2025. The MR-04EVO2 fully supports this new system, and with the I.C.S. Setting Manager, users can easily configure motor settings to match class regulations.
A dedicated CPU has been integrated into the gyro units circuit board, allowing for ultra-precise control. With faster processing speed, response time is dramatically improved, eliminating the common issue in older gyros where higher gain would reduce turning performance. This next-generation gyro unit delivers unmatched stability and takes cornering precision to a whole new level.
While retaining elements of the excellent MR-03 layout, the new MR-04EVO2 chassis achieves significant performance improvements with changes to the front suspension and a lower C of G that works in synergy with a sensored brushless motor. Both narrow and wide tread settings are available by changing the lower and upper plates on the front as well as the steering tie rod. Adjustable wheelbase allows chassis setting according to body type.
While camber angle is optimized during cornering with the swing of the current upper arm design, the front suspension uses the new kingpin-integrated knuckle to further improve camber stability. Geometric revision of caster and trail etc. delivers more linear maneuverability. New spec front springs for the MR-04 with different hardness are available as options.
