The evidence-based Too Good for Violence-Social Perspectives program lays the groundwork for peaceable living through a fun and interactive journey of setting reachable goals, communicating effectively, and making responsible decisions. The program focuses on developing students social-emotional skills and reinforces those skills through interactive, social activities.
Additional learning and development concepts include maintaining self-control, managing anger, resolving conflict, and managing bully situations. In the lunchroom, Penny learns how to manage her anger and maintain self-control as other kids tease her and try to embarrass her. On the playground, Jessup, Mavis, Loretta, and Henry learn how bullying behavior affects everyone involved in a bully situation including the bully, the target, and the witnesses.
Additional activities include a maze to identify the peaceable path to cooperative conflict resolution, a puzzle to distinguish bullying situations from simple conflict, and the Build-A-Bot review. Follow up activities provide daily workouts to practice and reinforce the concepts developed in each lesson.
