Inspired by classic city-building video games like SimCity, this pencil and paper game gives students the opportunity to build their own Mesopotamian city-state. By adding walls, ziggurats, canals, fields, and other structures to their city, students compete to see whose city-state is the best. Each structure has a reward but also a penalty if it is left out completely. Each decision has weight, and students must decide what to build in order to maximize their city-state’s success. Will you rise to the level of Babylonian Boss or remain a Desert Drifter? Welcome to Sim City-State!
